"Japan's Summer on the Engawa": naturadistill's Gin for "Enjoying Summer"

Light streaming onto the engawa (veranda). The bittersweet notes of amanatsu citrus and the scent of mosquito coil carried on the breeze. Beyond that, the childhood sweetness of traditional Japanese sweets resurfaces—the fourth installment in naturadistill's seasonal gin series, encapsulating nostalgic scenes and the comfort found within the summer heat in a single glass.

This gin will enhance various Japanese summer scenes, such as evenings on the engawa, by the river, at festivals and fireworks displays, or barbecues in the garden. It is a refreshing bottle that will make hot summer days even more enjoyable.

 

Amanatsu and Japanese Mint: Creating "Coolness" and "Nostalgia"

For this limited-edition seasonal product, we chose amanatsu citrus and Japanese mint as key botanicals. In our seasonal series, we emphasize celebrating and expressing Japan's seasonal nature through our products. Our selection of botanicals also prioritizes seasonal ingredients, sourced through transparent relationships. The amanatsu comes from a citrus farmer in Tokushima Prefecture, who is also a member of naturadistill's fan community "natura club," which started this year. The Japanese mint is sourced from a farmer in Kita-Aizu, Fukushima Prefecture.

The amanatsu, characterized by its sweetness and slight bitterness, is subtly combined with the refreshing coolness of Japanese mint, creating a flavor that makes you want to drink it thirstily on a humid summer day. This gin has become a truly naturadistill summer gin, bringing both "coolness" and a sense of "nostalgia."

Flavor Design that Values Overall Harmony

While previous seasonal limited editions were designed around key botanicals, "Amanatsu Hakka GIN," similar to our flagship "Indigenous Species Gin," focuses on flavor design that prioritizes overall harmony rather than highlighting a specific botanical.

While maximizing the flavors of amanatsu and Japanese mint, juniper berries and Japanese Torreya nuts provide a structural foundation. The lingering sweetness of licorice and apricot kernel, along with the woody notes of kuromoji and obovate magnolia supporting the base, add depth to the flavor profile.
